Ecclesiastical Commision
« on: Tuesday 14 November 06 23:23 GMT (UK) »
I have found a James Gulley who is a clerk in Ecclesiastical Commision

Does anyone have any idea what or who the ecclesiastical commision was?

My interest is not really him but a christian hay that is living with him as a son-in-law.......he is not married to one of james daughters..not married at all actually, and as far as i can tell he is not james' wifes child as her maiden name is not hay.

??? i am having real problems with this one.

i was wondering if maybe finding out what his job was may help solve this mystery

any ideas would be moat greatfully recieved

Ecclesiastical Commission was set up in 1835, and as I understand it was basically involved with administration of the Church of England - so lots of clerks involved I'd imagine.

Did James Gulley have any children who were married at the time? Perhaps if one of his sons married one of Christian's sisters, for example, they'd put the relationship down as 'son in law'.

Dear Fudgecake.  Son-in-law might also mean step son (I seem to remember)
