Hi J.J.
Yes the other researcher is out of the Winnpeg area. We have chatted about the Tourangeau family for a while.

His thoughts are quote "far short of being the kind of evidence that serious genealogists use" but he was thinking that Antoine Tourangeau was Charlotte's grandfather as he worked for the NWCo in the upper Red River district (i.e. Assiniboine River, near modern Brandon & Yorkton) in 1799..

Antoine had a son Jean-Baptiste who might have been her father.
I have Jean-Baptiste Tourangeau born in 1805 and married Marie Vadonet in 1830. She was born in 1810. They had a son Antoine who was born in 1830.

I believe the grandfather Antoine married Marie Caribou and I believe there were a few Antione's around.

I believe a lot of this information came from Roots Web which shows a daughter Angelique but I am sure there were more children which was very common in those days.

I guess one of these days someone will turn the right corner and by accident find the link. There is no such thing as quit in this business.

Thanks for sticking in there.

I had seen the Lizotte, Sophie born: 1834 at Wabasca, Fort Chipewyan whose was father Baptiste Tourangeau  and mother was Marie Valnet both metis...and that's why I sent you to that archives site...

speculation is indeed no way to finish one's genealogy, but it can sometimes get one on the way...We do just that many times on here...

So I suppose I am just as guilty...

I found Sophie Lizotte nee: Tourangeau's family and spouse on RootsWeb.com by entering Marie Valnet.

There are so many of them that I think I will start a tree just for them and see who is who.
