Barnsley Cemetery
« on: Thursday 16 November 06 04:20 GMT (UK) »
As a result of following a lead I found on Rootschat, I emailed Barnsley Council and have received advice from them  that MY G G Grandmother  Ann PAPE is buried in Barnsley Cemetery in Grave E 124 with her son John Lane and his wife Martha.

My question is does anybody know of any person who takes photos of graves in Barnsley Cemetery???

I don't know if there is a headstone on the grave or not, Ann Pape died in 1903 , John in 1927 and Martha 1919.

any help would be appreciated

i live quite close to barnsley cemetery and the next time i'm passing i'll have a look for you. did they give you a plan of the cemetery as it is quite a large one and as far as i can remember there are no markings as to where ie grave e 124 might be

Carolanne,
sorry for the delay in answering you reply , I have had a week up the coast had a great time morning on the beach, afternoons in the local library in the family history sections.

Barnsley Council did not mention a Map, so I have sent an email to them today asking how I can get one (with the Plot marked). When I receive a reply I will contact you.

thanks for your kind offer.

Cass

Michelle

I sent a email to

bereavementservices@barnsley.gov.uk

I found it by doing a search on barnsley council , then when i found their page i think i put in "cemetery" and some how ended up on a page that talked about
how they can do a grave search.

when i do a search on Google or Yahoo and find what i am looking for , half the time I don't recall how i got there ( old age has set in)

hi cass
thanks for your reply i only hope when they get back to you they put X marks the spot. i've been to the cemetery today looking for some of my relatives the cemetery is listed in sections so i took the information that grave E was section E and then the grave number and by sheer luck i came across some workmen who told us where section E is but there are 2 section E's anyhow i had a quick look but did'nt find anything some of the graves are just grassed over and some of the headstones are face down but when they get back to you hopefully it will have more information then i'll go back for another look.

Good morning carolanne

I received a reply from the council, they are going to  post me a map.
It usually takes 7- 10 days for mail to arrive from the UK if it comes airmail.
When the map arrives I contact you again, I hope they mark the spot.

thank you for looking for me.

Cass
