Are all three households Arthur Street? Is it looking like James and Thomas could be brothers (twins even?) and the "next door" James is James Junior.

James Junior is looking the likely candidate, as there is a William aged twelve living in James senior's house.

William was also a cork cutter, its looks like the family trade passed down from James to James Jnr to William....interesting stuff.

Yes they all lived on Arthur Street,but dont take the ages as gospel as they were often rouned up or down to nearest 5 years.Thats what I found interesting all living  Hulme and William saying born Hulme on 91 census also cork cutters as you say.Needs a bit of investigating but looks good.
