Campbell/Young
« on: Friday 17 November 06 13:05 GMT (UK) »
George Campbell married Janet Young in Perth in 1798.

Their children were -
Ann(1) 1779
Janet 1801
Helen 1803
Catherine 1805
Ann(1) 1808
George 1810
Elizabeth 1812

so a bit difficult to use the Scottish naming pattern when there's only one boy and he's named after his father! Is he also named after his grandfather?

I'd really appreciate some help in finding George and Janet's respective baptisms.

I've got a copy of the OPR entry for their marriage in 1798. George is a weaver from Pomarium and Janet is otp (Perth, Perthshire) daughter of David Young, millwright in the parish of Caputh.

There's an IGI baptism for a George Campbell in Perth in 1774 s/o George and Janet Sharp but how do I prove this is the right one? there's another in Perth in the same year s/o Colin & Catherine.

There are 2 Janet Young baptisms in Caputh with David as father - in 1767 and 1770.

There are no David Young marriages in Caputh around the right time but 3 or 4 possible baptisms for a David Young in Caputh.

Help!!!   :-\ :-\
