Hi Eve,

Unfortunately, I didn't follow them up as I was only looking for details of Walter's 1st wife Elizabeth Mabel & children.

Couldn't pick them up in 1851, they married 26/12/1828 Jedburgh, will have to look for details on scotlandspeople, only go on occasionally when I have a number of people to look for, seems I have some more now.

Was given the Telfer side by a Norm Gaskin in Australia, apparently some of them went there for the shepherding side.

I'm connected to William Telfer brother of Jean Telfer.  William came to Australia, we have much info on the Australisn line.  I'm keen to get in contact Norm Gaskin or anyone connected to the family.  We don't have much info from Scotland further back than Janet Nicol and William Telfer snr.

 re the Telfer family, i have my g grandfather, Walter Armstrong, b. 19 Jun, 1845, Castleton, Roxboro, m. Jun, 1870, Rotherham,  Emma Hall, b.1850 Thorpe Hesley, Yorks.
Walters father was William Armstrong, b. 1791, Langhome, he married, c. 1822, Margaret Telfer, b.17 July, 1801 Castleton, does Margaret tie in with any of your Telfers ?

Eve - I'm interested in Thomas Shiels who you say was the illegitimate son of a Jane Telfer.  I have a Jean Telfer who married Walter Douglas and am wondering if this Thomas Shiels is her son or if there really was a Jane Telfer who married another Douglas
