William Moore born 1818 what was he doing???

William Moore born 3 Sept. 1818 Seaton Devon went to Guernsey as a young man. Would love to know where he was before he married Elizabeth Gempton b. 23 Dec. 1818. & also where they married & children were born or christened.

Presumably that's a typo, and he married Elizabeth sometime later than 1818! 
Anyway, did he marry Elizabeth on Guernsey?  Have you found him on any census?  That might give you an indication of his profession and what he might have been doing on the island...I have ancestors from Devon who moved to Jersey for a generation or two.  I just assumed it was because there was work there (they were cabinet makers and carpenters).

Hi Prue..1818 was when Elizabeth Gempton was born. They married at St. Peters Port, Guernsey on 25/ 26 November , 1843. In Devon William was an ag. labourer, then apparently worked a short time on the docks where ?? before going to Guernsey. Have no idea what he did when there. They apparently stayed in Guernsey for 8yrs where 4 of their family were born. Louise Theresa, born 15 Feb. 1845; John James born 1846; Mary Emma born 27 Nov. 1848 & Rose Richeson born 25 Sept 1850.
No I haven't seen any census re their time there altho'  a fellow membe kindly gave me info 1841 re Elizabeth Gempton, 20yrs old Paris Street, Guernsey living with :Matthew Goodwin & family.Thanks for your help,
