From memory, my tree contains 4 cousins, one uncle, one great uncle and a 3 x grt grandfather - and probably more - all called John Roberts

In 1861, there are 4 possible John Roberts born Tryddyn in the 1855-60 period. Do you know his parents?

PS there are also 2 possibles in the 1881

Yes  in 1881 he is listed as a Stepson at the Home of a Joseph and Ruth Rogers Joseph being born in Leeswood Flintshire.But the giveaway is that his Mother Ruth is listed as born in Llanarmon Denbighshire,for in the 1861 Census he is living with his Mother Ruth Roberts listed as born in Llanarmon Denbighshire  aged 30 in Leeswood.Unfortunately Ruth is already a Widower.

I forgot to state that in 1881,Joseph and Ruth Rogers and John Roberts are living in Stansty Wrexham.

Are you sure that this is the right one William. There are 4 John Roberts of the approx age, born Tryddyn on the 1861.

I wouldn't like to choose any of them until we have more info about parents.

NB - on the 1891 his birth looks circa 1855, on the 1901 it's circa 1858 - same bloke

Well all else I can say is that John Roberts married a Barbara Ann Thomas at Wrexham in 1882.Barbara Ann was born in the Penley area in c 1858.
