1841 Census help please

Hi All,
Can anyone help with the 1841 Census for Kirkcudbrightshire?

I have on the 1851 Dumphries  Census the following:

BEATTIE,  James,        40  Shoemaker, b. Kirkgunzeon
   "           Mary            33    b Urr
   "           Janet           12       "
   "           Margaret      10      "

They were living in Mid Street, Dalbeattie.

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks for your quick reply. You cannot be in England as it is the middle of the night.

How clever to find the different spelling.  The ages of the 2 children are certainly spot on.
I have no knowledge of any Irvines.

Please, what does Clag M - Y mean?

Hi Annette 

Y means born in County (in 1841 Census this  means whichever county they are enumerated inm, in this case Kirkcudbrightshire, otherwise it was N=No, or if enumerated outside of such countries: S=Scotland, or I=Ireland )

M - is well used in 1841 to denote the word "Maker".

The data is my own transcription of a Transcription on a well known source, but there are no images available - I suspect it may well be a mis-read  of "Clog"? ie: he is a Clog Maker?

Otherwise, "Clag" - I though  I'd  heard the word before  in relation to some kind of "rubbish" from coal or clay or Iron works??? Maybe completerly wrong as I can find no dictionary entry for it online...

Yes I also think the Clag has been mis spelt and should read clog, seeing that his profession was as a shoe or clog maker.
