Another needle in a haystack - Williams
« on: Sunday 14 November 04 20:51 GMT (UK) »
Hello - I wonder if anyone can give me some guidance??

My g-grandmother was named Emily Williams DOB 22/09/1894 and she married Thomas Mason  ???Oct - Dec 1913 in Newcastle.  I really don't know where to start looking for her - I know she was born in Wales but not exactly which part.  I have checked the records of births for Sept - Dec part of the year, but there is more than one Emily Williams.

Can anyone suggest where I should go from here??

Thanks in advance!

I would try to fing their marriage cert. to find her father's name....then look for them on the 1901 census .....which hopefully will give you a place of birth.

Kathy is right if you can find the details of her marriage & you purchase the certificate this will then give you her father's name.

You may then be able to give the multible birth references that you are aware of to Southport http://www.familyrecords.gov.uk/partners/gro.htm
asking them to search for the entry which also includes the fathers name as listed on the marriage certificate.

You will have to ask Southport if there is an extra charge for this
