I'll leave you all to it Aghadowey. I've received an email asking me to have a look at the Jewish community in Belfast in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Linen exporters and Lord Mayors and their relations may be slightly easier to find than coalminers. There appears to be enough people searching for the elusive Miriam

To Christopher my friend was always told that Miriam was or her Father was from Ireland. In fact before we got my friends Father's birth certificate she thought that Miriams maiden name was something like O'Rielly or something like that.

To Arranroots I have done as you suggested and locked my other threads on this person.

To aghadowery I can't understand why we can't find her on any English census. I have had a thought of getting in touch with Rotherham archives and trying to find out who was the householder of where she was living when she married. Only fault is it does not actually give an address it just says Melton Terrace West Melton. So another idea bites the dust.

This is only about 20 miles from Rotheram where your friend's Miriam married.

Could be going on a wildgoose chase - no sign of the above family in 1891 but found this family. Now if William Liley died after 1881 and Hannah remarried George Barker Wombwell is not far from Rotheram.
