Hello Glesca Lassie,

What denomination was Robert?

You'll have to rely on Church records as civil registration in Ireland was not introduced until 1864. Non Catholic marriages were registered from 1845 onwards. When registration for BDMS started in 1864 some people didn't bother with the registration for a few years after that date. Keep your fingers crossed that church records still exist.

Hi Christopher, thanks for your reply, as far as I know all his family were married in Presbyterian Churches, so I think they were probably married in the same type of church

Have to pull up Rathfriland Presbyterian records for this period soon, did you find out anything in the meantime?

Any other names from Rathfriland come into it??
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
