I cannot help with the uniform, but there are 2 Frederick Beaney's listed on the national archives site for the Medal Index Cards

1. Sergeant in the Rifle Brigade Regimental number 2846
2. Private - East kent Regiment - Number  10696

Also 2 F Beaneys
1. Private - Army Cyclist Corps  -  1325
2. Private 2nd Rifle Brigade -  2846

Copoes of the cards can be downloaded for £3-50 (unless it has changed  since I last looked)

However, there are a lot of experts here, who can help you more.

Regards

the uniform is standard army service dress circa 1914 (pleated pockets and shoulder reinforcements)

the key to what unit he is in is the shoulder title on his epaulet

you need to scan the photo again at a much higher resolution and see if you can get some detail from that area

I would guess the Rifle Brigade judging by the look of his shoulder badge.
Cheers Dave
