Names of Nurses
« on: Sunday 26 November 06 17:26 GMT (UK) »
How can I find, or are there lists available of names of NURSES.
I have a photo of two Nurses taken about 1920. They are members of the LOBLEY or STANDFIELD Family from Essex.
I have the names of most of the family members, and need a list of nurses names to cofirm who these two ladies are.
Any help regarding this would be most welcome.

Do you have any idea which hospital they worked at? I am not sure when the General Nursing Council began to register nurses or how easy the records would be to access but that may be another avenue to follow.

There is some information available at the National Archives - see their "Nurses and Nursing Services" information leaflets for what might or might not be applicable http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/researchguidesindex.asp?j=1
