Can anyone help me decipher the meaning of some entries on my fathers service record.

SOS - struck off strength - can anyone elaborate on this?  Does this mean an injury?

Also, at the end of his record it says he was discharged to the reserves in 1946 due to indefinate compassionate grounds. Again, what could this mean?  An injury?? A death in family??

Any help appreciated

Helen

Hi Helen, What good news! I'm so pleased you have been successful  :D

SOS most lightly, I feel, an injury (mental or physical) does the timing coinside with being discharged to the reserves or does that come later?

I sent off for my records about the same time as you, AND I have name, rank, regiment & number, but I've seen nowt  :(

Hi All

Yes, the SOS entry is about two months before he was discharged to the reserves.

Thanks
Helen
