Could you perhaps provide his age at the time, or his birth place.  I could then try soundex.

Thanks for your reply re Samuel Veazey.
I am now fairly certain that Samuel Veazey may be dead by 1871 but his son Willaim Veazey is in the 1881 Census at 21 John Campbell Road in Kingsland, London.
Could I request a look for William Veazey in 1871. He would be 52, married to Eliz 49 with dtr Louisa 10 and Albert 8.
He would be a Painter & guilder or house decorator.

William is listed on the index as Vesey (original copy reads that way too).
