Could not find anything on the McLennans, Toward Castle is quite near Dunoon, and it is used for school camps etc. The Tow in Toward is pronounced "cow" not the word for going near to.


Post some more info on mcLennans relationship, we wil lsee what we can do.

There are submitted entries for Hugh and Mary's marriage:

Husband Age at Marriage:  23

But there is also an entry showing on Scotlands People in 1855 at Iona, Argyll to a couple with these names. If you decide to view it, this would verify their parents. Also, given that it's an 1855 marriage cert, the first year of official registration in Scotland, the certificate will have a lot more info. For one year only, the entries for BMDs ran over two pages of the registers. Certainly one to view!

Hi Martha,

Had another search for Alexander McFarlane, and I think I have found his death certificate on SP. I searched for McFarlane, Alexander, date of birth 1858 and in Sutherland. Only one came up in 1884, which would make him 26 approx. If you download this, will confirm marital status and parents, too.
