Aghadowey,

You need to update your library!

The new book has a lot of web addresses etc that wouldn't have been around in 1992. There are so many sources given for each county that it is bound to give you inspiration and hope.

Thankyou Ronnie and Aghadowey;  I will have a look for this book.   As time flies by and departure on the big trip approaches, I realize just how difficult it will be to make the best use of the time available, so any helpful advice is going to be much appreciated.   Bye for now.  Kind regards, Elizabeth

Don't know if there's a newer version of 'Tracing Your Irish Ancestors' but mine is 1992 and some things have changed since then. However, it is very good about showing sources for each county so you know what's available.
RonnieG- You did not specify the publication date and your copy is obviously newer than mine but if you read the above quote I said I didn't know if there was a newer edition. Unfortunately website addresses change often and I don't plan on buying another copy of the book just yet.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The John Grenham book is invaluable. You must take with you. Would have been lost without mine.

Thankyou Ann,  Where did you purchase your copy of the book?   I expect it will be found in any reputable Book Sales store!   I will start looking for it right - thanks to everyone who has suggested this research aid.   Kind regards, Elizabeth

Thank you Ann,  I will check with our Angus & Robertson book distributor here and see if they have it;  hopefully I will not have to wait until I get to Dublin to find it.   Thank you all so much for being interested and offering your help and advice.   I will be sure to let you know how I have gone at the end!   Kind regards, Elizabeth

Thank you very much Ronnie G.   I will have a look at these sites.   Over the past weeks I have been printing out all the info. I can get regarding records held at the various Libraries and National Archives in Ireland so hopefully I will be reasonably well prepared now.   Thankyou all for your help and suggestions.   Kind regards, Elizabeth
