1838 Salford Lancs Lookup, please :-)

hi follks,
Does anyone have access to a Lancs directory that covers Salford 1837-39? 
I'm hoping my grt grt grandfather, Dr Thomas Davidson, may be listed.   

According to the medical register he was in Salford Union before settliing in Belford NBL in 1839.  As he only qualified in 1837, there's only a narrow margin to catch him in.  It is possib;e that he may be listed as a Poor Law Officer or Surgeon as he did that in subsequent places he settled as well as being a local doctor.

i'd be very grateful for any search anyone can do on my behalf

i've tried that source, but thanks for the thought.  they don't have the right era of directory to catch my Thomas

another idea is to try  www.salford.gov.uk     the council website. You could look for the library/archives there, Im sure theyd look for you, and would be likely to know where to look.
They also have a family history forum ..looked to be a  miniversion of rootschat.

I agree with Jed there is a possibility that one of the staff might have a look for you.All main Libraries reference rooms have the Directories for there county.They were and still are published every other year. Wouldn't it be nice if we could visit all the counties in England & Scotland. Where our ancestors lived and look them up in the directories :)Long way to go though just to find their address

I've written to them so have my fingers crossed :-)   visiting is impractical as i'm up in the Highlands.   i'll keep the list posted as to progress in the hope that it helps some future enquirer
