I wonder if this could be her in Scotland 1841:

1841   MCFADGEN CHARLOTTE age 8 @ ST CUTHBERT'S EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN    GROS Ref: 685/02 243/02 001

Age would fit. She is the only entry that would fit! I searched for Char* M*cFa* and leaving aside all the McFarlane (!) entries, there are only two McFadgens, one age 30 in Dumbarton and this entry. I'll go and try and find more detail.

Charlotte's children:

From the 1861:
Thomas Rogers, b.c. 1855
Elizabeth Rogers, b.c. 1857
John Mitchell, b. 1859

From the 1871:

Ellen Mitchell, b.c. 1863
Jessie Mitchell,, b.c.1865
Joseph Mitchell,, b.c. 1868
Charlotte Mitchell,, b. 1870

Yes this is the right Charlotte as my Grandma could remember all of her great aunties and Uncles (she has a excellent memory)

Thanks for the website will check it out now

Kind Regards

Curtiss

This looks like the family in 1841:

Thomas M Fadgen, 50, b. Scotland, MS (Male Servant?)
Elizabeth, 40, b. Scotland
Thomas, 20, b. Scotland, App Coach M.
Archibald, 18, Tailor Journeyman
John, 16, App Cabinet M.
Charlotte, 8
Malcolm, 4

Address:  E Drumond St No 19, Edinburgh St Cuthberts

You beat me to it Gadget.  A bit more info from the index I used. It is certainly St Cuthert in Edingburgh.

Think we double posted Monica. Can't find a bpt. for Charlotte or Malcolm.

Possibly RC?

Yes -  the Old Parish records are only for Church of Scotland baptisms, etc. Official records did not start until 1855.

Yes, RC is Roman Catholic. It may be a possible reason why the baptisms for the children are not showing. Other reasons might be that their births were simply not registered (pre the start of official reg. in Scotland) or the relevant Old Parish Registers haven't survived.

Double posted again............!!! I think I'm going to concentrate on finding the family in 1851...no more posting until I do  ::)
