Joe,
I don't know how well you know Paisley so.....
If you start at Paisley cross and head out to west end of town (High St which becomes wellmeadow), you turn left just as Wellmeadow ends and Broomlands St starts. this takes you to Maxwellton st at the end of which used to be the back of the Ferguslie mill (no longer there).
Just after the school on your right you take a left and go down lefthand side of cricket ground. On your left there is a big hosital and that's where it was.
the hospital that's there now (Royal Alexandria) replaced the old RAI whic was in the south end of Paisley (on Neilston road - building still there but cionverted into flats)
They knocked down roccartsbar hospital to build the new one.
Craw Road is the fisrt left as you go down past cricket ground. At the top of it is the Ear, Nose and throat (old victorian building) . With that on your right as you go up Craw road you can see old RAI to your left diagonally.
Hope that explains. If it doesn't make sense do come back to me!.
Both Riccartsbar and Dyebar (which is out on east side of Paisley) were used as Psychiatrict hospitals. Dyebar still is.
Hope that helps
Cheers
Ann
