Army records
« on: Thursday 30 November 06 09:04 GMT (UK) »
I sent for my father's army record from Glasgow and received an acknowledgement on Sep 19th.  They said they were experiencing delays because of a backlog, and I expected this so promptly forgot about it till this week.  Does anyone know how long the waiting time currently is?

Hello ,
I think I must have been lucky, I got my fathers records only 10 days after sending cheque, they arrived unexpectedly last week.
Regards
Alan

For Family Interest the official line is currently 6-8 months, however I think that it depends how much detail you are able to provide, the more provided possibly the faster the reply  ???

I provided them with his regiment and army number, so I hope it won't be much longer in coming.

I applied for my father's WW2 records earlier this year and supplied name, rank and number.   They eventually arrived after about 7 months - as advertised.
Going by my experience I would not to expect them in the near future.
Incidently I applied for the initial issue of his medals (he never bothered to apply in 1947) in July this year and I'm still waiting for them.   Hope to have them as a Xmas present  ::)
Cheers Dave
