Hi Watermusic
I'm afraid I have no access to Baptisms, only Marriages/deaths
I did find this though:

Burial:
Daniel FRY Date 4th Mar 1838 Aged 84
Place Pilton: Description St John the Baptist
Denomination: Anglican SOM

Which coincides  with this:

Deaths Mar qtr 1838:
Daniel     Fry    Shepton Mallet    10   354

Worth a try?

Oh that's great, Borneo!
There is enough there that I can put a friend on the trail next visit to Taunton! I will only need to find Elizabeth's baptism and that little family will be complete for the present.

We are having difficulty tracking down Henry Fry, the father of Daniel and a further 5 siblings, so gathering every clue,
Thanks again

Thank you, but found last week! Both described as of the parish of Wambrook.
Witnesses George Abbot and John Stocker.

Also have Ann Seward baptised in both Chardstock and Wambrook, and all the children, though before my visit, I and a 3rd cousin only had two. The day before I arrived in the UK, I contacted a 4th cousin on GR who only had three children of the marriage, none of them the same! In fact there were seven, of whom 5 married and I have the deaths of the two spinsters.

So now I know there are three of us looking for the origins of Henry Fry

Thanks for the offer. May take it up, but first I must finish sorting out my findings into a paid "researcher"s report which assumes that all the Frys married in "Wambrook, Chardstock" and Cannington (which made my Chardstock friend very suspicious).
 - already I've found that they were in Taunton, Curry Rivell, Blewbury (Berks!), North Curry, Membury(Devon) and Swell. The very early ones were Cannington, and the later ones Wambrook OR Chardstock... and now Shepton Mallet.
There's going to be a lot of trawling to see how they fit together....if they are in anyway connected.
Now pretty solid back to 1756

At least I didn't splash out the money for it!! :)

Many thanks again

Hello Watermusic.

Have discovered only yesterday your discussions regarding FRY of Wambrook, SOM/DOR, I am descended from a John FRY b c1797 Pilton, Som. married to Jane MAIDMENT c 1820s, W Pennard, and son Daniel FRY b 1828 Pilton.

1841 they are living Ditcheat, father is a Farmer.
1851 living Clapton, Midsomer Norton, Som. Farmer 60 acres, 3 employees, also living with them is Mary FRY, Sister, b 1785 Wombrook, Som. From this I have reckoned John is a son of Daniel and Mary FRY, from Wambrook., your info. ref. removal order seems to tie this up.
1861 John and Jane FRY, retired Farmer at Clapton, MSN, Som.
John died 8th Mar 1873 and Jane died 22 Dec 1879

Daniel FRY b 1828 married Amelia STICKLAND b 1832 E Pennard, Som at Clutton Reg. Dist.in 1851. Amelia is daughter of William and Mary STICKLAND from Parbrook, E Pennard, he a Butcher/ Baker and was living there in 1841/1851 and died 1874.
Daniel FRY and Amelia have 8 children, Sarah Jane FRY b 1852 Ston Easton, chr 5 Dec1852 Wesleyan, MSN.,  John William Stickland FRY b 1854 Ston Easton, chr 11 Oct 1854 Wesleyan, MSN., Edward FRY b 12 Dec 1856, chr 22 Jan 1857 Wesleyan, MSN., Kate FRY b 1858, Elizabeth FRY b 1864, Edwin FRY b 1866 MSN, Alfred FRY b 1867 MSN., Lucy FRY b 1869 MSN., d 1 Nov 1925 Clapton, buried Paulton, Som. my G Grandmother, and Earnest FRY b 1873 MSN.

Lucy FRY married Charles ORAM b 1863 MSN, and my Grandfather is Clifford Oram b 17 Mar 1894 Clapton, MSN, Som.

1861 Daniel FRY and family live at Clapton, MSN, Farmer, 60 acres plus 1 boy, 1871/1891 living Clapton, although in 1881 he has  150 acres and 3 men.
Have not extended the other children into the 1900s.

Regarding FRY’s at Wambrook,  I have Daniel FRY b 1757 Wambrook, removed to Pilton, son of  Henry FRY and Ann SEWARD, and the following children.
John FRY b c1760 Wambrook, Elizabeth FRY b 1762 Wambrook, married to Samuel TETT at Wambrook on 21 Apr 1788, Sarah FRY chr 17 Feb 1765 Wambrook, married to David DENNING, on 19 Sep 1791 Wambrook, Ann FRY chr  25 Jun 1765 Wambrook, Mary FRY chr 28 Jun 1767 Wambrook, Amy FRY chr 25 Jun 1769 Wambrook and William FRY CHR 30 Jun 1771 Wambrook.

Would be interested in the FRY family previous to 1700s if info. available?

Regards
SOLOMON

Hi Solomon.
Greetings cousin! (nth, x times removed?)

This is the problem - we have Henry Fry m. Ann Seward - both described as OTP

BUT - There are no Frys prior to this in the registers of both Wambrook and Chardstock (apart from some early 17thC marriages in Chardstock, where they didn't settle and raise children)

I suppose that Henry was indentured around the age of 11/12 to someone in Wambrook, and having lived there some 14 years before his marriage, was considered to be OTP.

So we do not have a birthplace for Henry (died 20-Apr-1800) c.1730. It is believed he had a brother John c.1732 (who married an Eleanor in 1757) and their father was a Henry Fry c.20/4/1707.
It is just a question!!!! of searching registers based on the few clues above! We are concentrating on Somerset at the moment.

By the way, I am descended from William Fry (30-Jun-1771 Wambrook,  died 22-Mar-1851, Axminster district aged 80) married Hannah Mitchell  on 26-Mar-1801 Membury.

I'm having problems finding Hannah's father, Stephen Mitchell, too - there are hundreds of Mitchells, as opposed to the dearth of Frys, in the area - and he is described as SOJOURNER  ??? on his marriage to Alice Stevens 20-Dec-1780 in Axminster.

That is as far as we have got so far on checking the so-called research.

Merry Christmas
