Thanks for your reply. I had addressed the issue of Cecilia in my most recent post. When she died, she was described as "the widow of Alexander McKirdy", so her Alexander was not my ancestor who married Helen Lamont and then Elizabeth McGilvray at the time of his death.
Anyway, this is not the Alexander I'm talking about, I've got everything available on him. My block is with his parents, Alexander snr and Mary McMillan - I just can't find anything on them.
