I'm afraid I don't know where the photo was taken.  This photo was among many others left when my grandmother died.  My grandfather is in the middle of the back row, so sometime from 1914.   :-\ :-\

I was quite intrigued to see women amongst the group as well  :) :)

the attached photo is of mt grandad, i know very little about his military career other than he joined quite late in the war, (he was born in 1898)

I believe the cap badge is that of the machine gun corps, abd presumably the 169 relates to the 169th (3rd london Brigade)

can anyone confirm this and tell me where I could find out more about the regiment

At the top right of the restoration board you will see the heading "Start New Topic"...click on there and give your post a title and add your photo.
