1833 marriage in Brighton
« on: Monday 04 December 06 12:58 GMT (UK) »
William Henley married Caroline Rofe 17/11/1833, St Nicholas, Brighton. This is from IGI. Might there be any more info in the source records to help identify if this could be William Ralph Henley born in Woburn, Bedfordshire in 1810 ?
Henley (Brighton 1820+, Bedfordshire pre-1840),  Vine, Button, Bradford, Bodle (Sussex), Willey (Sheffield, London), Nattriss (London), Wood, Jones, Blaker, Shrimpton (London), Dalby (London 1800+, E.Yorkshire pre-1810), Hillmann, von Thun (London and Hannover)

This is the extract from the Sussex Marriage Index which usually reflects what was on the register.  Botp means both of this parish at the time of the marriage.  (B) means banns.

Brighton, East Sussex,  17 Nov 1833:
 William HENLEY, bach
 Caroline ROFE, sp botp (B)

There is a William and Caroline Henley in Brighton on the 1861 census. William born Rottingdean circa 1807, Caroline born Brighton circa 1810. Oldest child aged 29 so Caroline was very pregnant if this was the couple who married in 1833.

thanks for the lookup, Jane ! Looks like this may be a dead end though, if that's all the info there is. Looks like I'll have to try a different approach !  And thnaks for the contribution, Valda - the 1861 census entry suggests possibly the wrong William anyway.
