I am researching the surname "THATCHER",for my family tree.The research,l have found out so far,reveals they were from Westy Gorton, Lancs.
Archer(Lincolnshire)Foat(Lincolnshire,Kent),Thatcher(Manchester),Smith(Nottinghamshire).

That is probably West Gorton in Manchester

What years are you looking for ?

Hi Bursty,
   
      l think,the part of my family,lived in the area "West Gorton".During the late 1800s.
      William Thatcher married a Waters.

William Henry THATCHER to Sarah Ann WATERS
1897 June qtr  Chorlton  Vol 8c  Pge 1366

If he is yours - have found him on 1901 census with wife and chn Richard and Elsie, and 1891 and 1881 with parents William and Caroline in Gorton, Manchester - lots of siblings.
