Where is Rainton??
« on: Tuesday 05 December 06 13:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Could someone tell me where Rainton in Lancashire is.   I have Alfred Harrison born 1891 living with Grandparents in st Helens POB says Rainton.
Then again Ancestry UK it says Kington? :-\
Can anyone throw any light on these two places. Thanks

Ni Nessy,

Are we talking about the Edward age 8 in 1901 with grandparents Edward and Elizabeth?

If so, then I think the birthplace is Huyton.

The family are at Huyton with Roby (Prescot registration district) in 1891 ...

Hello there,

Answering the query on Rainton, it is to the north west of St Helens and just off the A570 road out of the town.

Could also be Rainhill on A57 to the East of Prescot.

Hi,

I looked at the image and it is definately HUYTON, I don't know where they got Kington from, Huyton is where I was born and Eccleston is only a few miles away.

regards
