Thank you very much for the information.

I've been to Treorchy Library and got copies of records - which is where another problem with this family starts.

Elizabeth Daniel married William Howells. In 1871 they are newlyweds living with David and Gwenllian. No trace in 1881. I have located a burial of a daughter Rachel in the grave that goes on to be the grave of David and Gwenllian. On the bottom of the interment notice of Rachel (daughter of William who purchased the grave) there is a note saying grave transferred see over. But the copies in the Library are one sided only - so there is no over!
I can't find the family in 1881 at all.
I did locate a similar family travelling to USA in 1882 aboard the Baltic but cannot locate this family in 1881 either.

So as you can see I have problems with Elizabeth and going backwards with certainty from David.

Any help by anyone would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi WelshJo,

It is a very good possible that the 1841 is his family, as 1861 David senior & wife were born Llanelly.  You know that there was also a son, David, around the right age. Is there an Occ. on his marriage cert for father?

I would post on the Carms board to see if Welshlady can find a marriage for David senior and Magdelen or perhaps another that fits, around 1820's or so.  Post this link so she will know info.  There is an extracted record on IGI, do not know if this is near Llanelly.

DAVID DANIEL
Christening:  20 MAR 1825   Llandilo Fawr, Carmarthen
Parents:
  Father:  DAVID DANIEL
  Mother:  MAGDALEN
