I know that he lost one leg and most of the other.

themonsstar, given the above info he most likely had a pension.  Do you know if pensioners records were stored seperate and therefore did not get caught in the bombing in WW2?

Pension records are in WO364 (medically discharged as a result of sickness or wounds).

PIN 26 (Pension case files on all the armed services awarded or refused pensions).

PIN 71( for soldiers who served before 1914, were discharged to a disability pension & then re-enlisted in WW1).
