Major G. R. Crommellin served in India
« on: Thursday 07 December 06 14:13 GMT (UK) »
Searching for info about lost cousin of my grt grt grandfather - but, not certain of exact connection  -

The following memorial card was pasted in the family bible  with the words written below - "the end of our dear cousin"!

Major G. R. Crommellin, CB - 1st Light Cavalry.

Fought and mortally wounded at MAHARAJPORE - 29th December 1843.
Aged 41. Son of Charles (Bengal Civil Service) and Ann. Born at Ghazipur. Husband of Johanna. Died of wounds, 1st January 1844

Many of my family served with both the HEIC ANDthe Britsish Army in India  - so the connection is possible - just how puzzles me - I am hoping I can locate more info on him and his parents in order to trace the connection.

With regards - Luc.

I have information on other Crommelins but I don't know how they connect  :-\

I wish I had some interesting ancestors, mine were all agricultural labourers .... except for that Polish prince .... or was that a dream?   ;D
