Shot in the dark
« on: Thursday 07 December 06 17:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi All
This is a bit of a long shot really.
We always knew that after our grand parents divorce in the 1930's our grand father re married.
We now have his death cert. The person who registered his death was M Wilson.
We are assuming that this was his wife ?.
We are hoping that S K S could find their marriage for us, He was Arthur Wilson and he would have married this lady with the Christian name beginning with M some time after 1933 and before his death in 1947.
Arthur was buried in Acton cemetery and they only lived down the road from the cemetery.
Thank you.
William James.

You can't assume that M Wilson was his wife. It could have been a child or friend. It's likely to have been a close relative, but you can't assume anything, I'm afraid.

Hi William,

I agree with Meles. But if you want to search for a marriage, you can view the marriage index here :
http://content.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=8965&offerid=0%3a7858%3a0
Make sure you view every quarter of every year and when you find an Arthur Wilson, cross-check with the spouse's name to see whether her first name started with an M ...

Arthur was buried in Acton cemetery and they only lived down the road from the cemetery.

Acton Cemetery, Park Royal Road?  It might be be worth contacting them to see what records they hold, as his 2nd wife may be buried with him.  They may even tell you if there is a grave stone.

Hi All.
Thank you for your replies,
Have been going through the marriages on Ancestry, not found them yet!.
Yes have to agree with you Meles i never assume anything where the tree is concerned.
Wendi  My cousin  Tickncheck on here has been to the cemetery and yes there is a head stone but only with Arthur's name on it, which begs 3 questions in my mind,
1. Is she buried some where else.
2. Did she perhaps re marry.
3. And  ( this is my favorite ) could she still be alive.
As Arthur was only 47 when he died.

Hi Wendi
Yes that is what Tickncheck has been doing today and he has found her name, I will not post it on here as she may be alive.
We have found out also that she used to own the grave but dose not now, so may have married again.
I have a lovely photo of it though.
So this topic is now complete, thanks to all for your help.

Great minds think alike - it's handy having a cousin "on the spot" isn't it  ;D

Worth the shot in the dark then! Nice to have the photo.

Good Luck with your future research & Happy Holidays
