1825 birth
« on: Friday 08 December 06 08:22 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for a birth record of Mary Cameron in c. 1825. Her death certificate says she was born to John Cameron, a gardener, and Elizabeth Neil. Censuses say her birthplace as Symington, Ayrshire. I would be grateful for any help as I've had no luck on familysearch or Scotlands People at all.  :(

Thanks for the welcome, Joe.  :)

She was 70 when she died in 1895, in Lenzie, West Cadder. She was the widow of John Herbertson, who she married in 1845.

It doesn't seem I'm going to find this birth. Is it possible though that her son has told the wrong parents for his mother? That's the only reason I can think of but again, I can't find any birth that matches.  :-\

morning my friend, the reason i was asking about your margaret is that there may be a chance that she would be on the 1841 census with her parents, guess what??

i have found a margaret still living in symington born c1829 with no parents and a brother James, they are living with the Anderson family, does this mean anything to you?

I've not seen any Andersons before but it may be her.  :)

I'm assuming that Mary and Margaret are interchangable names?

Thanks for your reply, Monica. Mary is certainly proving to be a tricky person to find but I guess all our families are the same.  ;D

I think I may have found Mary on the 1841 census but she's already a Herbertson!  :-\ Is that possible? This Mary is living with presumedly her husband and another person named Sarah Cameron. This really is the only thing that made me think it might be her.
