Probably just a co-incidence that there is a Cameron in the same household. Your Mary's marriage bann entry in 1845 in Glasgow on IGI is an actual extract from the OPRs. Also given her age, b. c. 1825, unlikely she would have been married by 1841 (she would have been 15/16).

There really isn't anything showing for Mary's family either on the OPRs (via Scotlands People) or IGI. The only thing I've noticed from the 1841 census is a number of entries for a Mary Cameron with her birth year working as servants in Glasgow. If her parents died when she was was young, she could well have been working from a young age.

In the 1851 Census there is only one entry for a Cameron with a Symington birth place +/- 10 yrs Mary's birth year. There's an Agnes Cameron b. 1831 working as a FS in Bute showing as born in Symington.

Regards.

Monica

Again, thanks for the reply. I knew it was too good to be true.  ;)

Regarding the Agnes in Bute, Mary was there with her two sons in 1861 so it's a possibility this is a relation of some sort.

I've just seen the 1861 Census entry. I was also thinking whether the Agnes from 1851 could be a sister.

Did Mary re-marry, she was still young in 1861 to remain a widow?

No, as far as I know, she never remarried. In 1851, she's listed as a widow, living with her brother-in-law's family and her two sons. In the next few, she's living with them too.

I've just noticed there are two daughters with the name of Mary.......no idea as to why, as per index.

It seems to be correct. familysearch lists both a MARY LIGHTBODY CLARK (b.1855) and a MARY ANN LIGHTBODY CLARK (b.1858) for the parents. Once again, thanks for the information. Although there's no sign (yet!) of their (Mary and Agnes') births, least I know they existed.  ;D
