LINK : Public Houses and licensees
« on: Saturday 27 August 05 08:53 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have just stumbled across an interesting link - a web site listing public houses past and present in Norfolk, with details of name changes, brewery changes and lists of past licensees, often back to the 19th century.

http://www.norfolkpubs.co.uk/index.htm

They also have a page of mystery photos that might have been pubs but where the location isn't known.

I'm off to see if there any such sites for other areas of the country...

I have found this site to be very useful.  I found one of my ancestors and a record of his conviction here!

This is a fantastic sight. Followed my ancesters through their moves between pubs, and was also able to offer corrections to some of the info, which has now been incorporated in the sight. It is useful for photos of pubs to insert into family history files.
