Gaudin Charles August
« on: Saturday 09 December 06 02:23 GMT (UK) »
My granduncle Charles Augustus Gaudin born 1881 Sydney Australia, joined the Australian Army and went to the Boer War.  He next turns up enlisting in the Sherwood Foresters in 1903.  He was injured in 1911 and pensioned off in 1919.
What I am searching for is some more information on the Sherwood Foresters.  I do not know what unit he was in.
He died at Luton 1947, and as far as I know didn't come back to Australia.

I found information on the Boer war Australian website in the resourses - thanks very much as it is more than the Australian War Memorial.

Any help appreciated

Hi Janette,

I have a book, its "Brassey's Companion to the British Army" by Antony Makepeace-Warne. The ISBN 1 85753 175 2 pub in 1995.

It gives all sort of facts on the Army.

Again many thanks for the picture, as after reading your previous posting where it mentioned their motto and badge, I was just getting ready to start searching for one.

Your blood is worth bottling!!! ::) :)
