Cannot find James Noble Nesbitt

His surname just might not be Nesbitt The only other alternative is to purchase a certificate of one of  his siblings to get mother's maiden name, if you find a registration that is, they may not have married as you have suggested, perhaps he is listed in  a baptism record.

James might not have been registered at all.I notice in the 1851 census William and Barbara also  have a daughter Ann age 18 so born 1833.This would suggest if Barbara is her mother to they married before registration in 1837.Theres a big gap in James and Anns ages?.

Also found this on the IGI its an extracted entry from the Parish Records not member submitted

Father-James Nesbit
Mother-Isabel Noble.

Explains where the Noble name came from.

Thanks Welsh Lady. I have tried all these and yes I do think it a possibility that that is where the Noble came from.
On the 1841 Census there is a
 William Neibet abt 1806 Northumberland, England St John
Barbara Neiber abt 1811        "                        "          "
Ann Weightman abt 1832       "                          "         "

This could be a misprint on Nesbitt, also it means Barbara had Ann before marriage.

It still doesn't get me any nearer James Mother's maiden name.
I have tried getting a cert with Weightman as his mother's maiden name but nothing was found.
As you can see I have tried all sorts of different ways and have been trying for over a year.
Have welcomed all advice from everyone but most I have tried.
Any more ideas would be most welcome.

Well there is a Barbara WEIGHTMAN baptised at Shilbottle 5 April 1807 which could be significant

The other nearest ones bp Shilbottle look to be a Barbara ROBINSON 1807 and a Barbara DONALDSON 1810 and a Barbara WILSON 1811

There is always the possibility that James' birth wasn't registered so it might be a case of trawling through the parish registers for the churches in that area to try and find a baptism.

Have you thought of obtaining Ann WEIGHTMAN's marriage.  She married David CUNNINGHAM Mar QTR 1853 in the Newcastle upon Tyne district Vol 10b page 146.

I would imagine if she was born prior to her mother's marriage, the father would be listed as unknown.  If not you would least know who Barbara was married to first.

Clockdoc,Checked out the 1841 census you found and the census image does read Nesbit so this look like your family.And this means that Ann looks to be the illegitimate daughter of Barbara.So looked for Barbara Weightman as Cas did and found a few more details
