This is the only info I have.

G-g-g-g-grandfather  COPLEY.  Part owner of KINGS LYNNE DOCKS.  Also he was a

Timber Merchant.

I am looking for dates, family connections etc.  In fact anything that will help in my search.

Grateful thanks  from Prilly

Hi.

I have just received a handwritten letter by  ROBERT FLOWER COPLEY  dated 23/12/1903.

The address on the top is      BRISTOW & COPLEY,

Bentinck Sawing, Planinig & Moulding  Mills,    LYNN DOCKS.

When did this business come into the family?  Can the family be traced back even further than that?

Thank you and kind regards from Prilly.

1861  : RG9; Piece: 2408; Folio: 59; Page: 3

Robert is a scholar at home

1871 - can't find him

1881 you can search yourself - he is a commercial traveller in Wisbech Cambridge - married to Sarah J

1891 : RG12; Piece: 1568; Folio 56; Page 17
Robert is in Kings Lynn. He is a Timber Merchant. He and Sarah have 10 children and his mother in law Mary Turnbull is living with them. (so you now have Sarah's name hopefully).
They also have 2 servants.

1901 Class: RG13; Piece: 1888; Folio: 104; Page: 27.

still in K L - timber merchant
still 10 children plus Mary Turnbull plus 2 servants

if you want all details please post.
hope this is what you wanted- cannot find business details - you could 'google' to see what happens.

Hi

In the 1904 directory for Lynn it shows that the company is actually called Bristow & Copley.

Try searching that too.

If you need further information re: Norfolk/King's Lynn please do get back to me.

Dear Teddybear.

Thank you so much for your reply with the photo of the Lynn Custom House.  That is very useful.

Could I ask if you are able to obtain any photo's of the old  building with the name of  Bristow & Copley Timber Merchants visible on it.  Anything will do.  Most grateful and hope it is possible.  Prilly
