If anyone is interested a notice in The London Gazette which can be found in Google books indicates a business relationship between the aforementioned Sylvester Stokes and Lorenzo Lipop. It can be found by entering Lipop in the search bar on this link:

For the record Lorenzo's wife Mary Anne Goater was probably my 3 x great aunt.
