Nanny Jan : Bomber Command lookup
« on: Thursday 14 December 06 23:52 GMT (UK) »
Just saw your note about bomber command.

I have an interest in 78 Squadron in 1943, operations to Dusseldorf and Bochum.

Could you check to see if there is any mention?

In particular plane is Halifax III JD145, crashed 12/13 July 1943 North Sea.

Thanks! :)

Hi,

No records of individual planes; sorry.  I'll check the diary fully tomorrow.... it's been a busy day Christmas baking and then emailing old family photos to a newly discovered "cousin".

Hi,

I would suggest asking for information on the general queries message baord at:

www.rafcommands.com

Alternatively you could try 57 Rescue, I'm sorry but I don't have the url to hand but a google search would find you it.

Regards,

Ann Sadler

Thanks guys, I already have quite a bit of info on JD145 having been to the PRO, and also spoken to some Dutch aircraft searchers (and 57 rescue). I just wondered if there was anything specifically in that book. Cheers! :)

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't have the Chorley books, but I think that you will find the lost bombers site has used Chorley as the source for the information on the site. If you try the RAF Commands site, someone will be able to give you the info from Chorley and there are also a couple of Dutch researchers that might be able to give you further information (Henk and Klaas), however, these may be the researchers that you have already been in contact with.

Regards,

Ann
