Hi, does anyone know if the above is still there?My fathers sister is buried there.She was born 7 5 1915. I only know she died as a child[dont know why]When grandad had done 23 yrs army.he trained at 'catterick' ie farming & then came to west aust under the 'group settlement' in 1923.she would have died in that time frame.Her name is Audrey constance Clarke. Any info? thanks. ricoba

The military cemetery at Shorcliffe is very much still there - see the following photographs:

I'm not sure where the records would be though.  The garrison church there closed down and is now home to a local theatrical group.

You could look for her death registration to get some idea of when she died (registation district would be Elham)  http://www.ancestry.co.uk

I live in Cheriton 5 minutes from the cemetery. When I come back after visiting the mother in law for Christmas and New year I can pop along and have a look for you. There are two cemeteries in Cheriton the military one and the local municipal one are you sure it is the military one?

hi panda, thanks for the offer.I have a photo,on the back it says''audrey constance's grave at the militery cemetery,shorncliffe ,kent.'' It must have been taken on the day,it is not very clear but you can see people,and the flowers.hope you have a good break.
My grandparents were married  in st martins church at cheraton in 1911.thanks again


I will look at those sites and try & find her death date. I do have her birth cert dist.elham sub dist folkestone  thanks also.

hi again,the military cemetery looks well looked after. I have looked at a few sites,but can not find out when Audrey died.I remember nana talking about 'poor little audrey'' .I dont know why i always thought she was about 5 or under[may be wrong as per]
It may be the hot humid weather[36 xmas day] but i cant even find her birth,but haveher mini birth cert?? Oh well will keep looking       nigh nigh

Had a look, very muddy and hilly but good exercise. Could not find it on this visit. Sorry. There were two main areas where wives and children appeared to be buried. Then you would find another one mixed in with the soldiers graves. There didn't appear to be any order or layout to the cemetery.

Do I get the impression that you are overseas from the temperature you gave for December? 
I will check the parish record archives next time I'm in Canterbury but in the mean time you may want to write to them to see if they have any more information.

The cemetery is split it to sections with letters of the alphabet. If you do find out which section I will gladly go back and have another look for you.
