Hello Grace,

Further information on the Hansfords.  John Hansford's parents were William Hansford (born 1763, occupation 'miller') and Elizabeth Wareham. They married in 1752. Don't know where they were born.

William's parents were Philip Hansford, born 1726 and Sarah Humber. They married on 30.03.1752 where unknown. 

Philip's parents were Philip Hansford and Elizabeth Ellin.  Philip was born in Askerswell, Dorset, date unknown and died on 28/02/1771 and Elizabeth died on 12/12/1770.  They married on December 18th, 1723.

Hope this fills in some gaps.  That is all I have.

Do you know if any of the following were also children of William Hansford & Elizabeth Wareham.

William b.c.1783
Philip  b.c.1798
Richard b.c. 1800
Elizabeth b.c. 1810

They all lived in Jersey around the same time and John & wife, Julia Gollion were godparents to one of Philip's children.
Philip gave Askerswell as place of birth on censuses. In 1851 Robert Eveleigh, aged 6yrs, said to be his grandson, was with the family.

I'm working a bit blind here as the following information is from a not quite complete photocopy of a chart which my brother did several years ago. Unfortunately he is now deceased and I cannot ask him where he got the information.  Here goes.

This chart I have shows the offspring of Philip Hansford and Elizabeth Ellin and under that the issue of Philip and Sarah Humber.  On the line under that is shown the issue of William Hansford and Elizabeth Wareham.  The children shown are as follows:

Thomas b.28/12/1787,  Sarah b. 14/3/1788,  William b. 27/2/1789, Sarah b. 10/12/1791, Sarah b. 17/10/1792,  Jane b. 17/2/1795 and William b. 24/4/1796.  The chart has been chopped off after that so there could possibly be another child. 

Means that the Philip appears to be accurate.

Good luck with your research. I have quite a lot of info on the Jersey based families and my own  Hansford ancestry based on Shipton Gorge, Dorset c. 1750's onward.
