do you have any 1901 info for him at all? I have had a really good look for him and his family as found on the 1881 census without any luck for any of them. i also found george in 1871 - do you have this info.
Let me know if you have any more details

Hi Reedy, Do you know anything about Georges wife 'Ann' for example her middle name....if it was def. Martha looks like these could be his family. It looks like he was with 'Ann" for at least four years after the 1881 census when they are all together as she has this new son with her age four but is down as husbands step son.

Thanks for all the information I do have George on the 1871 census. As for the 1901 census he was not on it but his wife Ann is, she remarried in 1894 in Burnley and is living with her children and new husband Joseph Hazelhurst.
As for the 1891 census (this is the part that puzzles me) there is no Ann Elizabeth English age 46 born Melbourne Yorks. Only a Martha Andrews as you stated living with the English children. She did not marry this Joseph Andrews, so why did she change both her surname and first name?
Now comes George English death I have him on every census up to 1881(when he was living in York)
His son Louis was born in York in 1886. So I think he died between 1885 and 1891 I have written every George English death From St Catherines(including variations) but so far i cannot find a match.  I have one more death to inquire about but that is in Whitechapel London(dec 1889)
If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful

Hi Reedy...i suppose the only line you could travel down now as his son is 19, is to try and find arthur getting married somewhere in the next few years and see what info that marriage cert.gives you  regarding his father . If it indicates deceased  at least youll know what date to search before. good hunting cheryle.f
