Has anyone out there come across 'Mally' as a derivative of 'Margaret'?

With thanks.

Using this site, http://www.whatsinaname.net/, you can find that Mally is a pet name of Mary. Molly is now derived from it. Hopefully that helps or someone can give more insight.  :)

Chambers Twentieth Century Dictionary in its section on names has the following:-
Mary, Maria, Marie, Miriam:  Diminutives: May, Moll, Molly, Mally, Mamie, Marietta, Marilyn, Maureen, Minnie, Poll, Polly.

Thanks to Oonagh, Hume 24 and Bervonian,

Your comments are very helpful.  I was half hoping the answer was 'Margaret' to fit in with naming patterns but 'Mary' is much more likely and I must do more research.

Merry Christmas.
