Hi everyone,
well the certificate finally turned up. It was delayed due to my making the cheque payable to the wrong department, and the postman delivering the certificate to the wrong address first time around!

Turns out that John Hill married Emily Lanot on 20 April 1864 in St Helier.  I now have John's father - Joseph to research.  The marriage certificate shows Emily as being born in St helier, although I have her on a Census, saying she was born in France.  Something else to research!!

My sincere thanks, once again, to Mike for all his help.
