James McCann, b abt 1812, son of John McCann & Margaret Moran, ag labourer, married Mary Hughes abt 1838. Mary b abt 1813 dgtr of Henry Hughes & Jane Kearney. James & Mary emigrated to Australia in 1856 on the ship 'Kate'. Children: Mary Jane (1838) - appears to have remained behind in Ireland. Margaret (1840), John W.(1842), Elizabeth (1844), Ann (1846), Sarah Francis (1847), Henry (1850) & James (1856).
Trying to establish where in Armagh this family resided prior to emigrating to Australia. Have been unable to find any birth & marriage records. Would be grateful if anyone has details for McCann's in rmagh.
