Anyone live in or near Tynemouth
« on: Thursday 28 December 06 14:39 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Just Curious on the 1841 census the roads mostly seem to exist on a modern map.....

Bell St, Charlotte St, and Linskile St. Callisons were living there 1840- 1855 ish. What is it like now?

Thanks

Sirius

Hi,

Bell Street, Linskill Street and Charlotte Street still exist.  All new, I'm afraid, and nothing like they would have been in the 1800's.

Hi Trini

Thanks for reply, I have now found satellite picture on Google map, yes it all looks very new.
Streets are very close to the Tyne, Peter Callison who I'm looking for was a mariner, but disappeared every census, maybe at sea.

Hi Trini

I have 1851 Census with wife and Children listed, also birth certificates. The last child born to Jane
Callison  in 1855 ( sometimes Calleson or Callesen )  looks like born at Post office bank or pool office
bank cannot read it, no father named, she remarried in 1857 shown as widow.

Sirius,

You started off about "in or near Tynemouth".

Although the census appearances for Jane in 51 and 61, were within the parish of Tynemouth, and her two marriages and births of her children were registered within the Registration District of Tynemouth, those addresses were/are in the town of North Shields, not in the town of Tynemouth.

Hi Michael

Thanks for your reply sorry I get confused with Wallsend, North Shields, being in/out of Tynemouth
