Help with Houghton Family

Greetings from the USA-
My grandmother, Eliza Anne Houghton, born October 12, 1893 (married name-Sherrard) immigrated to the US in 1909.  Although her family shows in the 1901 CO Leitrim census, the family remembers a tie to CO Monaghan and most thought the family came from CO Monaghan.  Her parents were William Houghton and Mary E Arnold.    Father's mother's name was Letitia, maiden name unknown.  Father's name also unknown.

Both the Houghtons and Arnolds were farmers.

There are no Arnold or Houghton surnames listed in the 1858-60 Griffiths Valuation extracts for Co. Monaghan on John Hayes failteromhat.com website although Arnold appears in most of the neighbouring counties whilst the only neighbouring county in which Houghton appears is Armagh. Most of the Houghtons at that time were in Co. Donegal.
