McKenzie, Brown, Small, Edgar, Dargavel families
« on: Sunday 31 December 06 01:14 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on the McKENZIE family from Kirkcudbright/Durrisdeer area. I have a JAMES McKENZIE who was married to CATHERINE BROWN and had 6 children:
Jennet
Andrew
Alexander
William
Mary
Agness

I have been unable to find any details on Catherine or a marriage date for James and Catherine. It is "thought" that James was the son of ANDREW McKENZIE and SARAH DARGAVEL (i have yet to find proof of this).
Alexander was "sent" to Tasmania in 1839.
James and Jennet, William, Mary and Agness went to Canada/America to live.
Andrew stayed in Scotland and married JANE SMALL.
I am looking for any information I can find on the family of Andrew and Jane.
Also any information that might be found on the mother Catherine and on the family of James McKenzie.
I have a letter written by Andrew to Alexander dated 1857 and he mentions the siblings names and the fact that they and "father" went to live in Toronto. Also father inherited 1000 pounds from an "Uncle" who died in England also father's siblings received the same said money. There were other names mentioned in the letter as being "uncle Andrew" and  "Uncle Thomas Edgar".
I am hoping that these names might be of use to find more on the family of James McKenzie.

Thanking you,
Mellymoo in Australia.

This is my first time, and I am not certain I am even in the correct area.
I am looking for some information for the following people:

John Maynard King, Born in Scotland in 1853 & his Wife Mildred Captola Hadlock, Born 1859. I know that they had a son whose name was John Maynard King, also. He was born 01-16-1887. Any information about either of them would be helpful.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff

To try and get you the best response to your query, it would help you to start a new post with your request. I assume your people were from Dumfries-shire. If so, go to the main Dumfries-shire board. On the top right hand side, above the posts, you will see a button for 'New Topic'. Click on that to get to the input screen.

Regards.

Hello Mellymoo from Australia -

This is rather an old post.  Are you still searching for information on the McKenzie family from Durrisdeer, Scotland?  I would be happy to share what I have with you.

Is this Irene by chance?

Gary

Hi Gary and MellyMooBear

Welcome to RootsChat, Gary  :)

The best (only!) way to exchange personal emails is by using the Personal Message service (PMs) here on RC.

You need at least a couple of posts here on the main boards for this feature to be activated. A quick way of getting to this bit of RC is to click on the small green scroll on the l/h side, under someone's username. This takes you straight there. It works very much like all email services with an in/outbox etc.
