Churches around Newmills? - COMPLETED
« on: Friday 05 January 07 11:58 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

According to the birth certificates of 2 of his children born in Glasgow in 1882 & 1888, John Hamilton married Elizabeth Ferrie in Newmills, Tyrone on 4th December 1879.

I'm trying to find out names of churches that were there at that time as I want to apply for the marriage certificate and the online application form asks for the name of the church.

I had presumed that John Hamilton (born Ireland probably Co Tyrone), was Catholic but am now having doubts as he married his 1st wife in Glasgow 'according to the forms of the English Episcopal Church', (she was also Irish) so I'm no longer sure what religion he was.

Thank you for any help.
Anne

Hello Anne,

There's a Newmills Presbyterian Church near Dungannon which is not to be confused
with a Church of the same name between Gilford and Portadown.
